About Kyle Kincaid

How I'm Different

As a CPA focusing on small and medium sized businesses, my methods and goals for you are a little bit different than those found in the traditional CPA firm. When you retain me, you'll find someone who knows what it's like to be in your shoes, running a business in today's challenging world of economic uncertainty, ever-increasing tax and regulatory complexity, and wary bankers. For over 30 years I worked as a controller, CFO and operations manager for companies just like yours, achieving great success and learning the ropes. There aren't many situations facing you now that I haven't already navigated, and I'd like nothing more than to share my experience and expertise with you.

My Philosophy

In the area of tax planning and preparation, I passionately believe that it's my duty to do all I can to minimize the impact of taxes on your business, since I think that there is no greater good for our country than to allow private business to retain as much of their income as possible so that it can be reinvested in our communities, not only providing jobs and innovation but also security to those who have taken all the risk with their lives and resources.

About Me

I have been a Certified Public Accountant in Washington State since 1976 (license #04682).

A native Washingtonian, I grew up in Seattle and graduated from Ingraham High School. After attending Willamette University and Loyola Marymount University, I graduated from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA with a bachelor of arts in history in 1974. After passing all parts of the CPA exam at his first sitting, I joined the CPA firm of Vander Wegen & Associates in Shelton, WA, which became Vander Wegen & Kincaid, Inc. PS. In 1983, I accepted a client's offer to become CFO of a Seattle-area building materials retailer, and helped grow the company from one to six locations. In 1994 I re-entered public accounting as a Manager with a large local firm, Vine Dahlen Werner & Co. in Lynnwood, WA. In 1995 I went back into the retail business, joining a long-established lumber company in Bremerton, WA as Vice President and CFO. The company grew to include 11 subsidiary companies with locations in southern California and the Seattle area, with over 225 employees in operations ranging from retailing to manufacturing and real estate management. Along the way, I developed particular expertise in starting up and doing business in California and Washington, with extensive knowledge of tax issues in both states.

Seeking new challenges and ways to offer his experiences to others, particularly those just beginning in business, I opened my own CPA firm in late 2009. Since then, I’ve enjoyed helping lots of folks figure out how to navigate the complexities of business in Washington, minimize their taxes, and plan their future while having fun on the road to success.

Personally Committed and Community Involved

A Kitsap County resident since 1995, I live and work in Silverdale and have been blessed with 3 children and four wonderful grandchildren (aren’t they all?). I’m an Eagle Scout and have been active in Rotary and many other community organizations throughout my career. I’m a past treasurer and president of the Admiral Theatre Foundation, have been president of 3 Rotary clubs, and am treasurer of Bremerton Rotary Club. I’m a member of the Washington Society of CPA’s and the American Institute of CPA’s, and hold the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation from the AICPA. My business experience has been focused on the retail building material industry. I’ve been a director of the Western Building Material Association and a management educator and trainer to lumber dealers throughout the U.S. for many years. I enjoy boating, hiking, reading, dogs and travel, with a special passion for US Civil War history.
